Carp fishing in Janesville- 2008

Commercial fishermen from Wisconsin Live Fish were netting Buffalo carp on the Rock River in Monterey Bay. I stopped to watch for a while, even though it was a cold blustery day. I don't know how those guys could stand being in the water that still has ice on the surface in many places!
The crew uses a net that is 3000 feet long to capture the fish. After being weighed the fish will be put into live wells and shipped live by truck to the fresh fish markets in New York City.   Stoller Fisheries in Iowa also uses about 6 million pounds of carp in a variety of products.
(you can see the former Janesville GM plant across the bay)
